Chaldon Holiday Cottages
only a short journey inland from the Jurassic coastal path at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door
Chaldon Herring sits in a valley but boasts some of the loveliest views in the county as well as interesting features like the five Marys bronze age barrows and High Chaldon, one
of the highest in the county.
The church dates from the 1400s.
Its alternative name is East Chaldon.
Its past residents were a mixture of smugglers and farmworkers but in the 1920s the village became a magnet for literary and creative artists belonging to the Bloomfield set. Our county museum is very much worth a visit, showcasing not only these artists but also Dorset’s connection to fossils and dinosaurs, hence the Jurassic coast.
It is a walkers’ paradise – through the valley to Durdle Door, a mere four miles away and along the Jurassic coast in any direction, east to Kimmeridge, Swanage & Studland and west to Ringstead and Weymouth & Portland.
For families, there is a variety of beaches to explore whilst at home there is a playing field opposite the cottages and a country pub a short stroll away with outside seating
